Manufactured in 1916. Offered is a fine example of a pre-World War I Colt 1911 Commercial Model. Has all early features to include long smooth trigger, checkered short wide spur hammer, checkered slide stop, checkered safety, diamond checkered walnut grips, flat mainspring housing, lanyard loop, “VP” proof on left trigger guard. The barrel is a later replacement. Right lug stamped “HS” for Hi Standard. Has a later Colt magazine, not two-toned. Proper slide with rear pony and no circle, this slide marking was used from C1 to C130000. This pistol has seen light use. The front grip strap retains 30% original blue. 50% blue on grip safety. Flat mainspring has been refinished. Balance of frame and slide retains approximately 85% of the original factory blue finish. Bore is near mint. Perfect action. With a proper era barrel and magazine, this would make an extremely handsome pre-war Colt.
