Barrel stamped “Sharps Rifle Company Bridgeport, Connecticut – Old Reliable” and “Freund & Bro.”. This was part of a large order shipped from Sharps to Schuyler, Hartley & Graham on June 1st, 1873 and subsequently sent to Freund & Bros. Freund operated one of the most famous gun shops in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It is dealer stamped on top of the barrel. Standard features include full round barrel, knife blade front sight, Lawrence folding rear sight, full length walnut forend, three barrel bands, metal forend tip, double set triggers and military style walnut buttstock with patchbox on right side. Left side of frame is stamped “C. Sharps Pat. September 12, 1848”. All metal is a smooth plum patina with razor sharp legends. Wood is very good to excellent with an owner’s initials on left side (a "W" and "D"). Fine action. Strong bore. Comes with original sling. One of the most popular rifles on the American Frontier. Extremely accurate and shipped to a historic Western location. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this firearm will be given to Ducks Unlimited Canada.
