This Winchester rifle was built in 1957 as a standard Winchester .375 H&H safari rifle. It was sent to Roy Weatherby for his custom work. The barrel is stamped “Rechambered to .375 WM”. Rear sight removed with ramp sight present. A Griffin & Howe quick detachable side mount installed. Sports a Weaver V4.5 scope. Features the basket weave checkering, walnut stock, contrasting pistol grip cap and forend with diamond center and sling eyes. The most unusual aspect of this rifle, the only one we have ever heard of, is that it was stocked using the Winchester Hydra-Coil system. The stock is two pieces made to absorb recoil and has the Hydro-Coil black rubber recoil pad. The Hydro-Coil stock matches the wood grain beautifully and is in near mint condition with no cracks or chips. In fact, the rifle shows only light use since the Custom Weatherby conversion, and remains near new inside and out. A beautiful near mint one of a kind Weatherby/Winchester in one of the most powerful calibers made at the time. A simply stunning custom safari rifle. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this firearm will be given to Ducks Unlimited Canada.
