November 5th & 6th 2016 Premier Firearms Sale
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2016
According to the Blue Book, Weatherby imported the Model 3000 Sauer drilling, marked "Weatherby" on right barrel, in the late 1960's or early 1970's. we have checkered numerous catalogs from that era and cannot find it listed, so how they marketed this weapon, and how many were made with the Weatherby name is unknown, but has to be extremely limited. It is a clone to you normally seen German drilling, but manufactured in American popular caliber/bore. Most drillings are 16 bore, this is a 12. The rifle barrel is chambered for the .30-govt-06. Left barrel choked full, right barrel modified; 2-3/4" chambers. Features a full matted rib with rifle front sight, stamped "J.P. Sauer West Germany" on left barrel, right side is stamped "MOD 3000 / Krupp Steel / South Gate, Calif." Sports a Weatherby Imperial 2-3/4x90 scope with quick release mounts that attach to the rib. Has a pop-up rear sight. All matching numbers on barrel, frame, and forend. The frame is done in satin nickel, scalloped box lock with double set triggers and cocking indicators with light engraving. Has a checkered walnut beaver tail forend, checkered pistol grip walnut stock with slight Monte Carlo pitch, rollover left side cheek piece, and solid brown rubber recoil pad. Has sling eyes mounted to stock and bottom of barrel and a Deeley forearm release. Manual ejectors. This rifle has seen little to no use, retaining 98% of the original metal finish. Wood is near mint. Mint bores. This is a beautifully made German Weatherby in useful non-European calibers. As new inside and out with just some minor storage wear. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this firearm will be given to Ducks Unlimited Canada. This rifle only listed in S.P. Sauer catalog.
