This is an improved hunting and target rifle No. 3. Features case colored frame with traces of color, long range tang sight, walnut buttstock with patchbox that is stamped "Maynard Patentee May 27 1851 June 17 1856", lower tang lanyard ring, takedown, octagon to round barrel with an excellent clean bore. The original walnut dealer case has a decal that reads "A. McComas Maker & Importer of Guns Rifles & Pistols 51 Calvert, Baltimore". Comes with a wooden cleaning, pull-through, cleaning brush, bullet mold. Original stock is in excellent condition retaining the majority of original varnish; traces of blue on patchbox, generous amounts of blue on tang sight, case colors under sight, traces of colors on frame. Barrel has 90% original factory blue finish with areas of toning to patina with no cancer; lever is basically grey patina with color in hidden areas. Barrel sports a fixed rear sight and German nickel front sight. Very clean, all original, untouched early Maynard sporting rifle in fine condition.
