Octagonal rifled barrel, signed in script on top flat “A. Gumpf”. Stars stamped in front of and behind rear sight and behind front sight. Reconverted flintlock mechanism with lockplate marked “POTTS” and engraved with scroll engraving on the rounded tail. Pierced four piece patchbox engraved with Masonic symbol in center of lid, along with detailed borders, flowers, and scrolls. The finial is shaped like a bird’s head and engraved in the style of a rooster. Brass furniture includes full sideplate with rocker panel engraving, an ovoid inlay above the cheek piece with three arrows engraved in the center and scalloped brass toe plate with ornate rocker panel engraved border. Engraved ovoid silver barrel key escutcheons on each side of the forend; small vacant silver oval wrist escutcheon. Finely figured full length maple stock of typical Lancaster County, Pennsylvania form; wooden ramrod. The forend has relief carving along each side of the ramrod channel. Diamond section checkering around the wrist, each large diamond contains five small circular punches. Excellent condition barrel has a dark brown patina with some wear to the signature. Lock has been professionally reconverted. Brass furniture with mellow unpolished patina. Stock is excellent with some light wear to checkering and no repairs on forend.
