The Model 29 was introduced in December of 1955, originally referred to as the .44 Magnum Hand Ejector Model. The Model 29 was not marked on any gun before 1958. This gun was produced in the third year of production with the standard high polish blue finish, case colored wide spur hammer and serrated trigger, pinned barrel, recessed chambers, adjustable rear sight, ramp front sight, and diamond checkered walnut grips with Smith & Wesson silver medallions. The diamond walnut grips have the black disc and are proper for this era gun, no number inside. The action and bore are perfect. End of cylinder does show some burn and there is a typical drag line. Hint of wear at muzzle and a spot of wear on trigger guard. Still retains 98-99% of the original factory high polish blue finish. Long considered the pinnacle of the Smith & Wesson lineup, the Pre-Model 29 is a true American classic.
