Made in 1909. Round blued barrels with solid matte rib and single brass bead and engraving at breeches; rib marked "J. PURDEY & SONS, AUDLEY HOUSE, SOUTH AUDLEY STREET, LONDON. MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WITWORTHS FLUID PRESSED STEEL." Sidelock actions engraved on all sides with florals and circular detailed scrolls; blued accents and triggerguard. Bottom of action marked "PURDEY'S/PATENT." Double triggers; ejectors, automatic safeties, cocking indicators. Lever and breech with engraved "2", as this was one of a pair. Gold inlaid "SAFE." Straight figured walnut stock with checked wrist, leather covered cushioned cheek rest around comb, decorated with brass tacks, and leather wrapped buttpad; relief carving around actions, terminating in a teardrop; silver oval escutcheon on bottom of stock engraved "G.I.B.". Diamond section checkered forearm with Anson release. Very good condition, barrels retain 98% reblued finish with a few light scattered marks from use, excellent bright bores. Action retains a silver patina with some darker areas in protected areas, a few light marks around breeches. Stocks very good, as refinished with a few light marks.
