Octagonal barrels, top barrel is rifled and bottom barrel is smooth bore. Decorated brass front sight and notched rear sight, top flat decorated with stamped stars and stamped “AMOS BENFER.” Amos Benfer worked in Beavertown and Troxelville in Snyder County, Pennsylvania from 1861 to 1893. Back action locks are stamped with scroll engraving and marked “RIDDLE” in a banner, double set triggers. Unique hammer on left side is longer in order to reach bolster on lower barrel. German silver ramrod ferrules with long tubes extending into actions. German silver wear plate on fore-end surrounded by four silver inlays. Double spur brass triggerguard and four-piece pierced brass patchbox. Figured maple half-stock has German silver nosecap, left side of stock with two silver inlays, one a heart, the other a triangle with rounded base. Silver teardrop inlays on each side of triggerguard and on toe and a heart on each side of the wrist, 12 total silver inlays. Original ramrods, one for each bore size. Very good condition, barrels have been cleaned, but now have some light surface rust and very crisp markings. Locks cleaned, some darker areas, markings clear. Unpolished inlays and hardware. Stock retains original finish, scattered scratches and marks from use.
