Frame was manufactured by Springfield in 1907 and was the basis for this beautiful custom rifle. The lines and style of stock carving are reminiscent of the work of Fred Adolph, and the style of stock is similar to the Buffalo Newton, yet the stock does not have the Wundhammer side panels. Basic features include a custom barrel that was made with no rear sight provision, a banded 03 Springfield style front sight with target blade, swept-back bolt, Lyman 48 receiver sight installed (patented 1911), original 03 floorplate and trigger guard. Beautifully detailed deluxe walnut stock with roll-over cheek piece, straight comb, deluxe checkering, and fleur-de-lis patterned black composite grip cap, checkered steel buttplate with trap and period sling swivels. Stock is very good to excellent with usual minor dings, some wear to checkering, and an expertly repaired crack at wrist. Barrel retains 85% of the dull custom rust blue finish. Frame has approximately 60% of the rust blue. Perfect action. Strong rifling.
