Octagonal rifled barrel, front sight missing and rear notch sight with later peep sight attached to wrist where the wrist escutcheon once was. Flat percussion lockplate engraved “KUNZ” in center. Double set triggers. Brass furniture. Finely engraved and pierced four-piece patchbox, decorated with detailed scrolls, checkered panels, florals and foliage designs. Finely engraved forend where plate extends from front of triggerguard to ramrod entry ferrule. Pierced toeplate with alternating square and diamond cutouts, decorated with flowers, engraved around each piercing and screw. Missing star was inlaid above cheekpiece. Rear half of typical arrow-point Lehigh County, Pa. sideplate still remains, front portion has a steel cover, reinforcing a repair. Full-length figured maple stock with ovoid escutcheons around each barrel key, checkered wrist, typical Lehigh County form, missing ramrod. Fair condition, dry, as found and uncleaned. Dark brown patina on all steel surfaces with light surface rust. Brass is very dark. Iron repairs beneath lock and around sideplate. Missing some of the barrel key escutcheons, star inlay and wrist escutcheon. Several repairs and structural cracks around lock and sideplate. Stock with scattered marks from use, scratches and dents. Some losses at forend and around barrel tang.
