Tapered round smoothbore barrel stamped “U.S./TW” over a “P” proof towards left side near breech, tang dated 1835. Flat flintlock lockplate with beveled edges and rounded face on tail stamped “PHILA/1835” vertically on tail and “U.S./M.T. WICKHAM” in an arm in the center. Brass pan and reinforced cock. Typical Model 1816 Type III steel furniture, regimentally marked on sideplate with large “15”. Full length walnut stock stamped “15” behind barrel tang and featuring a crisp encircled “JM” cartouche on the left side of stock opposite the lock. In crisp mechanical condition, showing little use, original flint. Steel components all have excellent markings and some light surface rust and scattered dark areas. Stock excellent, a few light scattered marks from use, one chip in wood behind rear barrel band on bottom of forend.
