Octagonal smoothbore heavy target barrel, unique rear peep sight made from folded brass, notched on top. Flat percussion lockplate marked “BIRD & BROTHERS PHILADELPHIA”. Brass buttplate and triggerguard with front stud, typical of Lehigh County. Full-length figured maple stock in the typical Lehigh County form; wooden ramrod. In very good, as found and untouched condition. Barrel and lock retain a dark brown patina, lock converted to percussion during period of use. Brass is unpolished. Stock retains the original finish with scattered scuffs, scratches, dents and light marks from use along with a few non-structural cracks.
