National postal Meter built M1 Carbines from 1942 to 1944 with their contract with the U.S. government. Has the later style rear sight. Frame and bolt are parkerized. Bolt should be blue. Has a Saginaw rear tang and Underwood 4-43 barrel with Ordnance bomb; Underwood was a subcontractor to National Postal Meter. Magazine release is stamped "M". Left side of stock has an "S.A.W." cartouche (not correct for National Postal Meter). Has a two rivet hand guard. ME reading 1. Metal has the green phostphate military finish. Comes with sling; no magazine. Has the later style adjustable rear sight not originally found on this model. Typical rebuild using various U.S. military parts.
