Manufactured 1951. Blued round over-under barrels with vent matte rib, brass front bead, and white center bead; right side marked "PATENTS Nr 2203378 -2233861 / MADE IN BELGIUM" and other side marked "BROWNING ARMS COMPANY _ ST. LOUIS MISSOURI / SPECIAL STEEL - 12 GA - SHELLS 2-3/4". Blued boxlock action engraved in center with scrolled foliage and repeating borders; bottom of action displays large Browning trademark. Ejectors, non-automatic safeties, barrel selector, and single trigger. Replaced highly figured Monte Carlo walnut stock with checkered semi-pistol grip; black hard plastic grip and buttplate marked "FAGEN". Original forend with large shaped checkered panels on each side. Good condition; barrels retain about 80% original blue finish with dent on left side of upper barrel. Light pitting on both sides near breeches with thinning blue and scattered marks from use along both sides. Excellent shiny bores. Action retains approximately 50-60% blue finish with heavy edge wear, wear on bottom of action, and wear on trigger guard. Buttstock is very good as replaced with scattered marks from use on both sides; original forend shows scattered marks from use and several areas of marred checkering including one gouge on left side within checkered panel.
CORRECTION: You will notice the "Double Stamp" serial number on tang. This is similar to a "Double Struck" coin in that the original factory stamp did not take and was factory "over-struck." Quite out of the ordinary for quality control at Browning and as such, is quite scarce to find on any early Browning.
