This is an extremely high quality sporting rifle that was done by a master craftsman with beautifully carved stock, custom engraving at breech, and fully engraved trigger guard and floorplate with gold inlays. The quality of workman ship is on par with Adolf or Owens. All engraving is done by Kornbrath and is signed by him on floorplate with "Hartford, Connecticut". The floorplate is fully engraved with bear, has three initials inlaid in gold, trigger guard has antlered game, the breech is beautifully scroll engraved, as is the rear tang. Bolt has been custom checkered on the outside, has a Lyman long tang 48 rear sight. Bolt is jeweled. Has a band and ramp front sight with adjustable dovetail Marble blade; ramp rear sight with fold-down leaf. the stock is incredible, beautiful walnut, finely checkered with checkered side panels, decorative edges, Schnabel tip. pistol grip is checkered in the same pattern. Grip has Marlin style wave. Left side cheek piece oil finish, pistol grip cap area (no grip cap) is engraved with the same three initials as found on the gold inlay on floorplate, Has a custom steel serrated buttplate with trapdoor. The barrel is a smooth blue-brown patina. ME reading 1. Stock is near mint. Fine bore and action. Simply and exquisite custom pre-war sporting rifle. Given that Kornbrath engraved this rifle, the gunsmith who built it would have to be in the master class; rifle has a distinctive Adolf or Owens look about it.
CORRECTION: The builder of the gun wrote his name Wibener and the number 1091837 on the wood stock under the barrel.
