Factory letter states that this revolver was shipped on May 19th, 1874 to N. Curry Bros. Co. San Francisco, California with nickel finish and smooth walnut grips. This revolver was part of a group that were sold to the Wells Fargo Express Company. Barrels were shortened. The majority of the Wells Fargo guns were Schofields while the American Model is quite a bit scarcer. These revolvers were stamped "W.F. & Co. Ex 21" on right side of barrel, "21" stamped on right side and bottom of frame. Standard features include six shot, single action, top break, half moon front sight reset, and flat muzzle. Very good clean bore. Action needs some work as hammer does not stay back. Smooth walnut two piece grips are very good. Overall, revolver retains approximately 50% original nickel finish. Wells Fargo Express Co. was started in 1852 and was instrumental in delivering precious cargo and important documents throughout the latter half of the 19th century. This revolver is housed in a vintage period double loop tooled holster and 3" cartridge belt with brass buckle; an impressive true Western historically connected 1870-80's revolver. Very historic Western big bore revolver that is guaranteed 100% authentic.
