Round swamped barrel with solid flat rib on top; brass front sight, rear sight absent. Flat flintlock lockplate signed "Holbrook" on script and decorated with stiff leaf engraving around edges; rounded cock. Brass furniture includes engraved English-style trigger guard with curled steel trigger. Buttplate tang engraved with the letters "L.L." and a shell. Flat sheet brass sideplate and raised silver wrist escutcheon inscribed "EG / 1765". Full length walnut stock with shaped panels carved around lock and sideplate and relief molding around ramrod channel; butt of typical New England style. Relief carved Acanthus leaf behind barrel tang. Very good condition; barrel is missing rear sight and has pitting around breech and tang; overall retains dark brown patina. Lock possibly reconverted, retains a dark brown patina and some light marks front use. Silver wrist escutcheon shows some wear to engravings and markings. Brass furniture polished. Stock is very good as refinished with scattered marks from use. Some chipping around lockplate, small area replaced forward of lock, and small crack running beneath lock. Last 14-1/4" of forend has been professionally replaced.
