Tapered steel smoothbore barrel with flat panel on top and brass front sight. Flat flintlock lockplate signed "S. Mercier/A-Liege;" detached pan. Fine relief-cast brass furniture featuring buttcap a detailed and unique lion's face, triggerguard bow with a grotesque mask, and sideplate with engraved borders with scattered sprigs of foliage. Curled iron trigger and iron belthook. Partially figured walnut stock with relief acanthus leaf carved around the barrel tang and ramrod entry ferrule. Relief carved moldings along fore-end and ramrod chanel, relief carved panels terminating in teardrops around lock and sideplate. Excellent condition, barrel and lock show some scattered light pitting and light grey patina. Brass unpolished and showing little to no wear. Stock excellent with a few light scattered marks.
