Heavy two stage rifled steel target barrel with patent breech engraved with scrolls and inlaid with two silver brands; brass front sight and iron rear sight; indistinct makers mark on top flat. Flat original percussion lock with rounded tail and scattered sprigs of engraving, marked in center "JAMES BROWN & SON / PITTSBURGH PA". Engraved brass furniture includes sideplate with single retaining screw with attentive branches and borders. Trigger guard with three stage tapered finial terminating in a ball with rocker panel engraving and engraved with a daisy on bow. Butt cap engraved with a large eight-pointed flower and nose cap engraved with foliage and rocker panel borders. 15 silver inlays with rocker panel borders including barrel key escutcheons, hearts on each side of grip, in front of and behind lock and sideplate; two diamonds on each side of forend and silver oval wrist escutcheon inscribed "R.B." with attentive branches on both sides. Full length figured maple stock and faux-striped wooden ramrod with brass tip. Very good condition; barrel retaining an even brown patina. Lock has a light brown patina with some light pitting and worn markings. Brass and silver furniture are unpolished. Stock is very good as refinished with age cracks above sideplate, some chipping around barrel tang, and some stabilized scattered cracks on each side of forend.
