Three stage smooth bore steel barrels with silver spider front sights and notched rear sights integrated into tangs. Left flats marked with English proof marks, top flats marked "LONDON" and engraved with moons, stars and sunbursts; breeches engraved with stiff leaf engraving and other borders; tang is engraved with florals, moons and stars; flat locks engraved with moons and stars towards tail with maker "WALKLATE" in an oval panel surrounded by military motifs, locks also features cocks decorated with stars and roller frizzens. Silver mounted furniture is case in relief with military motifs, Middle Eastern motifs, castles and arms. Buttcaps engraved with military motifs on each side and moons surrounded by stars. Extensive wire inlaid scrolls cover entire stocks. Profusely inlaid with finely engraved and detailed silver inlays, mostly Middle Eastern motifs. Plain full length walnut stocks; ebony ramrods with bone tips. Trigger guard tangs and stirrups on buttcaps have Birmingham hallmarks and date letter "V" for 1793; also stamped with makers mark "IB". These pistols were made for a prominent Middle Eastern figure by Harvey Walklate Mortimer I (1753 - 1819); he specialized in repeating pistols and gold mounted guns for the Eastern market. Excellent condition; barrels and locks have been cleaned bright and show some light pitting around touch holes and pans, marking and engraving crisp. Some small slivers of silver wire inlay are missing and one buttcap is dented on both sides of grip, otherwise all inlays and silver furniture are excellent and show little wear.
