Manufactured in 1911. This is referred to as the Model A standard weight rifle with 26" full round barrel, blued finish, walnut forend with Schnable tip, walnut buttstock, and smooth steel Savage logo shotgun buttplate. This buttplate was a special order available until 1919. Barrel retains approximately 75-80% original high polish factory blue with thinning at breech, razor sharp legends. Lyman front sight, rear sight blank is filled, and a Marble tang sight. Frame has the cocking indicator, cartridge counter and retains approximately 50% of the high polish blue. Stocks are very good to excellent with no cracks at wrist, but does have some dings, a couple of which have been filled in, and has had some finish added. Lever has been re-blued. Fine action. Strong rifled bore. These early Perch Belly rifles chambered for the Winchester caliber are some of the most sought after examples. This is a very clean model with the special order buttplate.
