These unique pocket revolvers were manufactured in Hatfield, Massachusetts and were a division of Otis A. Smith Co. of Rockfall, Connecticut. They are unique in that they feature a swing-out design cylinder with spur trigger, octagon barrel, full nickel finish, case colored hammer and trigger, with the special black hard rubber grips that feature Abraham Lincoln on the right side and James Garfield on left. Lincoln was assassinated April 15th, 1865, and Garfield September 19th, 1881; the significance of the two assassinated presidents being commemorated on a small pocket revolver remains one of firearms strangest mysteries. This revolver has never been fired; retains 99% original factory nickel with no cylinder burn, grips are excellent to near mint with one small chip on left panel. This revolver is rare enough in unfired condition, especially with these special grips. Also comes in its original two piece box with proper green end label and directions for use inside. Very rare unfired revolver never seen, especially in this condition with its fragile original box.
CORRECTION: According to a direct descendant of the Shattuck family, that C. S. Shattuck’s gun shop was never a division of the Otis A Smith Co., of Rockfall, Connecticut. The shop was its own company entirely after C. S. bough out Hyde around 1880.
