Blued round rifled steel barrel with front sight/bayonet lug and Buffington rear sight, two blued barrel bands, both stamped with “U”. Barrel marked at breech “V/P/eagles head/P/A”. Casehardened breech block marked “U.S./MODEL/1884”. Flat bluedclock plate marked “U.S./SPRINGFIELD” and stamped with eagle. Typical blued steel model 1884 mounts with serrated trigger and butt plate marked “U.S.”. Walnut stock with cartouche stamped opposite lock plate. Very good condition, barrel retains 70%-80% blue finish with many areas thinning or turning brown, some scattered marks from use especially behind sight. Good bore with some light corrosion. Breech block with some traces of case colors and scattered brown spots. Lock retains about 80% of blue finish with some scattered marks and some speckling and thinning on hammer. Steel furniture showing some surface rust, edge wear, and scattered light marks from use. Stock has been sanded and has scattered marks from use.
