Hi-Standard introduced the exposed hammer H Series on January 20th, 1940. The H-D Model was introduced in 1943 at 103863 and was produced until mid-1946 at serial number 153890. This example is an early production dating to the 1944 era. Right side of frame is stamped "Property of U.S." and is stamped with the Ordnance wheel. The blued finish examples were offered until the 130000 serial range. These were ordered by both the U.S. Army and Navy. A silenced version of this pistol was also ordered by the O.S.S. An extremely scarce World War II era .22 caliber military pistol in the scarce factory blue finish. Retains approximately 75% of the original blue with balance thinning to smooth blue-brown patina and grey patina on grip straps. Checkered wood grips are excellent. Fine bore and action. Overall, an excellent clean example of a rarely seen U.S. martial pistol.
