This pistol was manufactured in 1937, standard features: full factory blue finish, all checkered parts, fully checkered walnut grips, checkered arched mainstring housing. This pistol remains in near new condition inside and out. Exhibits a couple of storage marks on inner gripstrap, hint of wear on trigger and in a nearly indiscernible takedown line with a couple of minute spots of high edge slide wear at muzzle. Retaining 99% or better original factory blue as a near mint shiny bore and perfect action. The Colt 38 Super was introduced in 1929 during the tomaculous era of the Bootlegger and found immediate popularity in the underworld of vice and crime due to its new supersonic speed and penetration. A total of 3730 pre war Supers were manufactured and few remain in such high condition as most saw heavy use. At the time of its convention it was fastest 38 caliber cartridge ever invented and fine examples are seldom seen in today's marketplace and have an avid following. A high grade example that warns no apologies.
