Manufactured 1943. The Ithaca Gun Co. was contracted in May of 1942 to manufactured 60,000 Model 1911-A1 pistols. This serial number falls int he 1943 bracket. Left side of frame is stamped "F.J.A" (Frank Atwood June 1942 - March 1946; inspected all Remington and Ithaca models), has a large "P" near magazine release; right side stamped "United States Property M 1911 A1 U.S. Army", a partially struck Ordnance wheel found on all Ithacas, and also a Bencia Arsenal "BA" repair/refinish stamp. Left side of slide is stamped "Ithaca Gun Company, Inc, Ithaca, New York", a "P" stamped on top of slide; right side of slide is blank. Has the Keyes brown plastic grips with K star logo. Parkerized barrel is stamped "HS" on right lug for Hi-Standard. Features checkered arched mainspring housing with lanyard, spurless checkered hammer, checkered slide stop and safety, welded magazine stamped "C-S" at base. Gun comes in a period Railway Express Agency shipping box with partial label that has faded. Retains approximately 95% of the arsenal applied finish with light drag line; razor sharp stampings. Excellent example of a scarce Ithaca.
