November 5th & 6th 2016 Premier Firearms Sale

With only two noted serial number examples at the time of publication, one of which is in the collection of the author of the book System Mauser on page 48 and 49, it is the only version encountered that combines the six shot magazine, the 5-1/2" barrel and the adjustable rear sight. The barrel is stamped on bottom "1828 98"; bottom of magazine, back of grip strap, on both sides of sight lead, cursor, bolt stock, both sides of grip panels, and back of hammer is stamped with serial No. 3712; No. 3712 is listed in the book. According to Schroeder, these models did not have a serial number on the left rear barrel flat and the number stamped under barrel is not a serial number but rather some identification number. When the pistol is disassembled, you will find the number 3712 stamped on the bottom barrel/receiver lug, on the inside of the cartridge follower and twice on the inside mechanism action. The lug, which cannot be removed, is part of the frame-barrel assembly and has matching serial number. The entire gun retains approximately 95-98% original factory blue. Small parts retain virtually all of the Nitre blue. Has the early cone hammer, lanyard ring, and grooved walnut grips. Gun appears to be in nearly new unfired condition. It is considered one of the rarest and hardest to find of all Broomhandle Models. Production at turn of the century with a distinctive six shot short magazine profile. Pistol is exquisite and condition is unimprovable.
