Manufactured 1943. Right side of frame is stamped "United States Property M 1911 A1 U.S. Army". Left side of frame has the "R.C.D." (Robert C. Downey July 1942 - October 1945, correct inspector for US&S) inspector stamp in circle. Left side of slide is stamped "U.S.&S. Swissvale, Pa. U.S.A." with the US&S logo, right side of slide is blank. Union Switch & Signal contract was only produced in 1943 with a total of 55,000 pistols manufactured; is production numbers for World War II pistols, it is the second scarcest. All period correct parts to include short checkered trigger, spurless checkered hammer, checkered safety, checkered slide stop. Blued barrel is stamped on top with the intertwined "HP". Has the proper Keyes brown plastic grips with the K star logo on both panels. There is no "P" on slide. Original parkerized finish has the distinct fire line 2-3/8" from muzzle. Bore is excellent. Has a pinned blue magazine. Pistol is in excellent condition retaining virtually all of its original war-time finish with just minor high edge wear.
