This fine pistol was manufactured in 1934. It debuted at the most expensive handgun in the Colt line-up and was introduced in the middle of the Depression, which definitely slowed sales. Standard features include blued finish, checkered walnut grips, fixed sights, and all proper original pre-war parts. Barrel is stamped "Colt 45 Auto Match" on lower left side at lug. No Swartz safety. The original box label states "National Match .45 Cal. Automatic Pistol. This model is fitted with special hand-honed action: select Match barrel; and "Patridge" type rear sight." The box has proper end label, is numbered to gun, has original green National Match hang tag, instructions, shooting suggestions, and 1930's sales receipt from J. Warshal & Sons of Seattle, Washington. Box is complete but heavily reinforced with tape, broken aprons, etc. The gun itself does not appear to have been fired, no wear at front of slide, light takedown line, light wear on side of trigger, and a couple of light age freckles on front grip strap. Still retains 99.9% of the factory original blue. Near mint grips. Perfect bore and action. It would be nearly impossible to improve on this rear pre-war National Match pistol. The pre-war National Match 1911 is one of the most desirable Colt semi-automatic pistols.
