Colt Book places manufacture date at 1944. A Department of the Army certificate of ownership presented to Major General Eugene G. Cushing for pistol, caliber .32 Colt - Serial No. 570942, dated July 7th, 1965. Cushing was born in Portland in 1905, graduated Washing Law in 1929, and was with the Judge Advocates Division during World War II. He retained his Army commission and was Major General of the 104th Division during the Cold War. Cushing and this serial number are listed in the book "U.S. General Officer's Pistols" by Kevin Williams and John Brunner. Pistol sports the standard late full parkerized military finish with Colt silver medallion checkered wood grips. Gun is unfired, retaining virtually all of its original war-time finish. As new inside and out. These U.S. issue officer's pistols are highly prized, even more so when they can be identified as presented and owned by a specific officer. Right side of the frame is stamped "U.S. Property". A beautiful all original near new ID'ed Colt U.S. pocket pistol.
