18” x 24” unfolded brochure is framed and matted. Circa 1932. From J. Chein & Company. Folded paper brochure has been professionally framed with glass on both sides. Can be hung to show either side and both sides are worthy of displaying. The brochure pictures every toy and doll that J. Chein produced in 1932 featuring the licensed characters Krazy Kat, Ignatz, and Popeye. This collection features every toy and doll shown in the brochure except the Popeye rubber mask (there are no known surviving examples of the mask). The other side is a fabulous lithograph of the entire cast of characters in the Thimble Theater. The brochure dates from 1932 which is the copyright year that appears on all the Popeye and Krazy Kat toys and dolls. 1932 was most likely the J. Chein Company's peak year in the toy business. By 1935 they had lost the Popeye license to Louis Marx and they would never again be a factor in the competitive but desirable business of producing toys based on licensed characters. Brochure is complete with a bit of wear on the folded seams. Provenance: Collection of Carl Lobel.

Condition: (Excellent).

Item Dimensions: Framed: 20 - 1/2" x 26".
