The first is the lithographed tin Andy Gump Thrift Bank and is shaped and sized like a tobacco pocket tin. The front pictures Andy smoking a cigar and has Sidney Smith Corp. license. On the back it pictures Andy, wife Min and son Chester with Andy telling us that he saved $5 in this tin bank, brought it to a real bank, opened a savings account, and as a gift he received the large cast metal bank which is being sold with the tin bank. The cast metal bank is unpainted, made by General Thrift Products Company in Chicago and has minor evidence of wear. The cast metal is in outstanding condition but has no bottom plate. Provenance: Collection of Carl Lobel.
