Domed hammered bowl-shaped steel skull with applied disk on top and fitted with a spear-point type spike with brass base. Nicely riveted and flattened link mail is very complete and was made with great attention to detail. Skull retains a light grey patina with some scattered marks from use, spike retains a matching patina, brass base is unpolished, probably reinforced with screw. Mail has an old brass museum or collection tag with number "48". This is a nice representative example of a 17th century Indian helmet.
