FANTASTIC MAUSER MANUFACTURED WWII GERMAN MG42 MACHINE GUN ON LAFETTE MOUNT WITH ACCESSORIES (C&R).GERMANMG421165B8MMSee catalog description for accessories.MODERN; NFA; C&RCal. 8mm. 21" bbl. Just a great specimen from a very desirable manufacturer marked "ar" on left side of receiver indicating Mauser with non-matching orig Nazi wooden butt with clear eagle proof and manufacturer's mark. Butt manufactured in 1943 by Johann Frohlich. Unnumbered top cover manufactured by Carl Eickhorn. Shroud marked "bpr" indicating Grossfuss manufacturer. The MG42 was manufactured utilizing the innovative process of stamping steel pieces, bending and welding them into component parts which speeded the production over the earlier MG34 which was primarily of milled steel construction. The MG42's sound upon firing has been likened to a buzz saw or ripping canvas with a rate of fire so fast that some modern shot timers cannot distinguish between the reports. This extremely well accessorized specimen includes four .308 bbls in addition to the one orig "ar" marked non-matching SN bbl in gun. Three bbl carriers one of which is Nazi marked brown paint dated 1943. One Nazi marked assault drum carrier with two 50 rnd assault drums with belt links. One SA marked ammunition can with display ammunition on WWII era belt links. One 8mm belt loading machine in can with red diagonal stripe on can. One orig camouflage paint oil lubricants box with orig WWII lubricant cans. Two sealed MG1 belt link packets. One spare 8mm top cover SN 2201 with feed tray. Two .308 top covers with one .308 feed tray. One buffer assembly. One .308 muzzle. One 8mm WWII era muzzle. One charging handle. One WWII era hand grip. Two sealed in orig packaging post WWII German grip frame assemblies. One braided coil mainspring. Two rear sight assemblies. One pressed paper & leather gunners pouch with oil cans. Pouch does not appear to have any makers marks or proof marks. Also included is an orig WWII German optic sight manufactured by "cme" "Wichmann" in orig box and Lafette tripod with Nazi marked elevation gear with Yugoslavian data plate on top of carrier table. Many such tripods were assembled or WWII era tripods reconditioned using a mixture of parts. This is a National Firearms Act weapon and requires BATF approval prior to transfer. This item is fully transferable on an ATF form 3 or 4 as Curio & Relic eligible. CONDITION: Very fine overall. Mixture of wartime style refinish with some orig finish parts such as bbl in gun, spare Nazi marked grip with brown grip panels and adjustable bipod assembly. Very clear unbuffed markings typical of wartime refinishing practices. There is some areas of light pitting on the shroud and right side of receiver underneath the refinish. Hand grip currently on gun rates about very good with an overall brown patina with this grip held in place by a simple stud with cotter pin. Wooden Nazi marked butt exhibits wire reinforcement at collar with a coat of black paint, very typical of Waffenmeister field work. Mechanics are fine. Bores are also fine and shiny. Nazi marked bbl has some light surface corrosion towards the muzzle which should clean up. Shiny bore progressing to more dark with some light pitting near the muzzle. Optics of sight are clear. Metal accessories are very fine, orig finish. Spare hand grip has some brassing to bare metal at the bottom of the hand grip frame but very attractive in all respects. The German WWII MG42 is one of the most highly sought of the WWII collectible machine guns. This specimen is in really quite fine condition with a seldom found orig Nazi marked buttstock. It will be certain to attract the attention of the discerning WWII collector as both a gun that is historical and also a lot of fun to shoot. It is especially nice that it has .308 parts, missing only the inner muzzle bearing to convert this to fire the common .308. 52939-31 JWK (30,000-40,000)
