*FINE BSA LEWIS MODEL 1914 MACHINE GUN (CURIO & RELIC) (PRE-86 DEALER SAMPLE).BSA1914 LEWIS13992303MODERN; NFA; C&RCal. .303 Brit. 28" bbl. Very attractive BSA Lewis gun with British nitro release proofs on left side and "BELLO, FL." (importer) added marking at top of receiver near pan socket. SN matches between action cover and top of receiver SN near pan attachment socket, top of cooling jacket SN does not match. Plates on either side above pistol grip marked "RIGHT I*" and "LEFT I*". This gun includes orig clamp on bi-pod dated 1922 and 2 orig pan 47 round magazines with .303 ammunition in brown canvas web carrier. Also included is a steel ammo chest with two boxes of belted .303 British ammunition. The Lewis Model 1914 was one of the most popular and sought-after machine guns of WWI, much admired by the Germans, who captured and used them whenever they could. It remains today a very popular collector's and shooter's firearm, to which this cataloger can attest.This is a National Firearms Act item and requires BATF approval prior to transfer. This item is transferable ONLY to current FFL/SOT dealers on a form 3. As a Pre-86 dealer sample under current regulations it may be retained personally when as sole proprietor FFL/SOT dealer relinquishes their FFL. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish extremely fine as refinished in an attractive, smooth dark gray finish. A couple of dings, one noticeable 3 1/2" from the front of the cooling jacket at top to a couple of dimples 6-8" from the rear of the cooling housing on right side. Wood has some dings, a couple of scars and handling marks, but still quite solid and serviceable with steel reinforcement plates on both sides. Bi-pod also refinished with a couple of spots of storage corrosion. Pan magazines exhibit fine orig finish starting to turn a gray patina at the high edges. Canvas carrier in extremely fine condition. Mechanics are crisp. Very fine, clean, brilliant right bore. A great Lewis gun for the machine gun collector/enthusiast. 53164-3 JWK (6,500-8,500)
