Outstanding condition Springfield Armory M1A-E2 machine gun which is the second of a consecutively numbered pair offered in this auction. Includes bipod marked "US Bipod rifle M2", and one 20 rnd mag. The Springfield Armory M1A was produced in response to market demand for the US GI M-14 select fire machine gun. The M1A incorporates the action and selector which is a copy of the M-14 design and improves it with attached bipod and pistol grip wooden stock, as well as a fold down forward handgrip. The M-14 was the successor to the M1 Garand and BAR within the American rifle squad, with the intention that any soldier issued it could be an automatic rifleman if needed. This is a National Firearms Act item and requires BATF approval prior to transfer. This weapon is fully transferable on an ATF form 3 or form 4. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near mint with only a slight barely discernible wear to the finish where the charging handle and bolt have been pulled to the rear. With some slight brassing to the high edges of the hardware of the flip up butt. Mechanics are crisp. Bore is exceptional, shiny and bright.
