Lot contains: A) Pressed black fur felt body with a polished black leather band around the lower edge of the helmet. Brass Indian Scout crossed arrows side buttons, plume holder, and cavalry eagle front plate with German silver crossed arrows, correct red/white horsehair plume. Replaced wool cords and chin strap. Tan leather sweatband with W. H. Horstmann contract stamp. B) Private purchase helmet with black wool-covered pressed cork body with a polished black leather band around the lower edge of the helmet and black leather chin strap. Brass signal corps crossed flags side buttons, plume holder, and eagle front plate with German silver crossed flags, black horsehair plume and black wool cords. Tan leather sweatband, interior body is lined with black polished cotton, Ridabock & Co New York label in the crown. CONDITION: Excellent. From the Ray Bentley collection.
