Lot contains: A) British Royal Artillery Regiment Officers 1878 Pattern Home Service Helmet. Dark blue cloth over cork with gilded chinstrap bosses, chin chains, and trim. The Victorian-era helmet plate of the Royal Artillery Regiment is mounted to the front of the helmet. Tan leather sweatband, green visor linings. CONDITION: Helmet body shows a break in the cork body behind the unicorn head, save for that, the helmet is in excellent condition. Contained in its Japanned tin case in very good condition. B) British Army Service Corps Officers 1878 Pattern Home Service Helmet. Dark blue cloth over cork with gilded chinstrap bosses, chin chains, and trim. The Victorian-era helmet plate of the Army Service Corps is mounted to the front of the helmet. Tan leather sweatband, green visor linings. Housed in its original Japanned tin case. CONDITION: A beautiful example in excellent condition. Case in very good condition. From the Ray Bentley collection.
