Lot contains: (A) 1st Model Heer Tropical Pith Helmet, and (B) Auxiliary Overseas Cap. (A) Early 1941 dated 1st model tan pith helmet in overall very good condition. Tan cotton fabric is intact with age soiling and several white spots. Cork helmet body has several crushed areas on the top, front, and sides. Leather sweatband is intact and nicely marked with a size "54" stamp on the outside, and "B.K.41" and "54.N.41" stamps on the inside. The Heer and National Color shields are original to the helmet, and attached via three prongs. One prong on the Heer emblem has broken off. Red cotton crown is very good with age soiling. Green leather chinstrap is attached, and has a number of cracked areas. Green leather helmet trim shows very little wear. (B) Women's Auxiliary Signal branch cap in overall very good condition. Gray wool cap has several very small holes on the top and left side, with a one inch hole on the ride side near the front. Black wool backed bullion eagle is original to the cap and hand applied, with some broken threads on its right side wingtip. Yellow and black twisted wool piping is also original to the cap, and is machine sewn to the body. A Signal emblem with the same piping is hand applied to the left side. Undamaged lining is in black cotton with no marks present. The partial leather sweatband is mostly missing, with only the machine sewn top 1/4" piece remaining.
