These rare machines were even considered curious back when they were sold, circa 1910. The crossed, 32 pairs of strings mounted on a soundboard like a zither, had little to do with the phonograph's operation while covering the internal horn, and the designer was never really clear about their function. The oak cabinet has splits on both sides, and the design of the central door to the phonograph ensures that the hinges become loose with time. The upper cabinet doors were originally stained glass and have been replaced with recessed panels. The upper cabinet, measuring 16-1/4"L x 24-3/4"W x 42-3/4", contains the phonograph. The lower cabinet, measuring 16-1/4"L x 25-1/2"W x 33-1/4"H, has no shelving, but does have built-in supports for shelves to store phonograph records.
Condition: (Good - Very Good).
Item Dimensions: 16-1/4"L x 25-1/2"W x 76"H.
