Extremely Fine Harrington & Richardson Reising Model 50 machine gun with original blue felt lined trunk case formerly the property of the Watertown Police Department and so stenciled on the outside. Three original 25 round magazines are included. Compensator at muzzle with "P" proof mark on top of barrel where it meets receiver. Case colored three position selector on right side of receiver. Typical peep sight. All were features of this submachine gun, which was pressed into service during World War II when insufficient quantities of Thompson machine guns were available. This model also saw extensive use by police departments as this one apparently has. Receiver serial number is the only visible serial number. Overall appearance and finish are very fine. High, lustrous blue original finish with some slight loss of finish in spots around manufacturer markings. Wood has been lightly sanded and refinished with some light handling marks. Mechanics are crisp. Bore is very good, shiny and bright. Bolt face also very good with evidence of firing. Trunk case is extremely fine with liner and compartments in very good condition. The Reising design enjoys the advantage of firing from a closed bolt allowing for a generally more accurate first shot than open bolt firing machine guns. It makes a fine entry-level machine gun which also fits the historical World War II machine gun collecting genre. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE.
