Auto Ordnance 1828 Thompson in classic military configuration with bullet logo and diamond Auto Ordnance Cutts compensator, "L" style peep sight, horizontal forend, flaming bomb Ordnance mark, sling swivels and one Bridgeport 50 round drum magazine. "GEG" and "RLB" initials present on left side of receiver, along with "S" prefix serial number indicating Savage manufacture. Serial numbers match to upper and lower receivers. 1928 internal parts. Barrel exhibits capital "P" at the 12 o'clock position where it meets the receiver, as well as a barely discernible marking at the three o'clock index line. 1928A1 Thompson was a less expensive transition from the original Colt 1921 Model with most notably a simplified rear sight. Overall a handsome finish, very good to fine original smooth grey finish thinning to a grey patina in places with milling marks readily apparent on receiver. Barrel and compensator exhibit a much more lustrous blue finish and is almost certainly a replacement. Drum exhibits about 85% original blue finish, turning to a grey patina particularly at the high edges. Wood furnishings show moderate dings and handling marks with a couple of chips to the wood. The pistol grip was painted a light brown at some point in the past which is now flaking. Bore is very fine, shiny and bright. Bolt face is fine with a discolored ring around the firing pin hole. Action is very smooth and positive. A nice representative specimen of a US military Thompson which will no doubt be very durable for years to come. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE.
