This pistol/ carbine in smooth bore, is seldom seen, as produced between 1867-1875. This example has 12" blued round barrel without makers name. Blued late no. 1 type rolling block action is marked "REMINGTONS ILION N.Y. U.S.A." and with 1864 and 1866 patent dates on left side. Serial number is on action face. Tangs are altered to form deep pistol grip with bronze addition forming full grip, with spur fitting web of hand. Grip sides are of walnut. Small walnut forend screws to bottom of barrel. Assembly number 31 is on bottom of barrel and bottom of bronze grip frame. This number also appears on bronze mounting "iron" with large knurled screw head which threads into hole at rear of grip. Wooden portion (birch?) of stock has chamfered edges. Extremely rare 1960's vintage Canadian Journal of Arms Collecting with article highlighting this rare gun is included with this lot. CONDITION: Fine, as custom fabricated. Barrel and action retain 60 - 70% blue, considerable flaked and browned. There is a chip missing from bottom front left grip side. Bore is fine. Mechanically good. Stock most likely newly made, does not fit frame well, and wood does not fit iron well. Although this is an Antique, it was registered as an "Any Other Weapon" under the provisions of the National Firearms Act. This means the buyer will need to undergo the NFA transfer process, or otherwise submit the gun to the BATF for exemption. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 CLASSIFIED AS "ANY OTHER WEAPON". MGM 260
