Rare Breda Model PG as made for Costa Rica by Italy. This very specimen was used when researching the development of the three shot burst for the American development of its burst controlled small arms. Manufacturer and model information on top of receiver above chamber. This Breda automatic rifle incorporates an adjustable burst capacity feature. Accompanying this lot is a letter that this very rifle, identified by serial number, was sent to Aberdeen Proving Grounds to be fired and analyzed as part of the development of burst control mechanisms on US small arms. This rifle functioned adequately during testing and research at that time. This cataloger had a conversation with the late William H. Woodin in years past about this research event. One original 25 round magazine is included with this rifle. Receiver serial number is the only visible serial number. This weapon fires from the closed bolt with a sliding dust cover at rear of receiver. It incorporates a toggle type action where the bolt face slides upward into a locking position when the bolt is forward, making it a very unusual action. Action cover is SN 7. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is very good to fine with about 85% original blue finish with some nicks, dings, and wear to high edges, as well as some brown patina at the front part of the barrel. Number "300" is scratched into the underside of the trigger guard and also visible on the barrel to the rear of the rear sight. Wood has light to moderate handling marks with a 2" crack on the left side of the handguard parallel to the bore line, just forward of the rear sight. Springs are strong. Bore is very good with shiny rifling and turning dark in the grooves. Bolt face is extremely fine. Mechanics are fine. A rare and historical machine gun not often found complete. From the estate of noted cartridge collector and World War II veteran William H. Woodin. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE.
