Very attractive Quality Hardware manufactured M1 Carbine with rotating flip safety and "Rock-ola" marked barrel which has been converted to M2 carbine by the U.S. government through the addition of full-auto parts. Receiver remains marked as "U.S. Carbine / Cal. .30 M1". This is a receiver registered machine gun. Bayonet lug equipped forend hardware adjustable rear peep sight and round bolts all are indicators of post World War II government retrofit. Includes five 30 round magazine, one Lift-the-Dot web sling, and a very interesting clamp-on angled barrel "bullet chute" marked "HFCO" somewhat reminiscent in concept to the German MP-44 Krumlauf. Receiver serial number is the only visible serial number. The M2 Carbine was fielded at the very end of World War II with most going to the Pacific Theater. After the war, many M1 Carbines were retrofitted and made into M2 carbines by the U.S. government. These guns saw service throughout the Korean and Vietnam War eras and were even supplied to other countries by the United States thereafter. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is fine to extremely fine with over 80% arsenal refinish with some thinning to a grey patina where the charging handle rides on the receiver, on the round bolt, and near the muzzle. Wood is extremely fine with some light handling marks and a very attractive light color. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt face is fine. Mechanics are fine. This is a select fire machine gun. These M2 carbines are a hoot to shoot and are very popular, no doubt because they are so light and handy. The characteristics which made them popular with World War II Veterans still holds true today. From the estate of noted cartridge collector and World War II veteran William H. Woodin. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE.
