The helmet is identical to the Federal regulation helmet save for the side buttons which display the New York seal. The helmet body is full form with distinctive "lobster tail" shape and retains all of its original Model 1872 brass hardware. CONDITION: The felt body exhibits very well executed repairs to the dome with reinforcements on the interior. The original red horsehair plume and braided red wool cords on this helmet are in excellent condition and helmet retains its original leather chin strap. The interior leather liner is an accurate replacement, original dark green visor facings show minor wear. From the Ray Bentley Collection.
