Gilded metal components and black cloth-covered pressed-cork body in excellent condition. Deluxe eagle plate with applique crossed sabers surmounted with a shield affixed to the front of the helmet. A large silvered "1" is attached to the center of shield, cavalry side buttons. All components are as prescribed for the model 1881 dress helmet. Brown leather and red silk sweatband, crown label impressed in gold lettering "Simmons & Co Boston Mass". CONDITION: Sweatband exhibits rips and is partially detached, visor linings show moderate wear. Original officer grade chinstrap, crown plate, plume holder and white yak hair plume are intact.
