Black wool-covered pressed-cork body has no breakage and all components are as prescribed for the Model 1881 dress helmet. Deluxe eagle plate with applique crossed sabers surmounted with a shield affixed to the front of the helmet. A large silvered "7" is attached to the center of shield. Interior with white leather sweatband, quilted white helmet lining of either silk or satin material. Original officer grade chin chains, gold cords, crown plate, plume holder and yellow yak hair plume are present. Helmet enclosed in black japanned carrying case stenciled on the lid "Ridabock & Co/ Formerly Baker & McKenney/ 141 Grand St/ New York". CONDITION: Helmet is in very good condition with some dulling to the metal components. From the Ray Bentley Collection.
