An untouched example in excellent complete condition. The helmet body is full form with distinctive "lobster tail" shape and retains all of its original Model 1872 brass hardware. The original yellow horsehair plume and braided gold cords on this helmet are in excellent condition, 1872 eagle front plate. A paper label affixed to the dome reads. "From Baker & McKenney Military Goods 141 Grand Street New York". CONDITION: Interior leather lining and green visor facings are in very good condition showing light wear. The black leather chin strap, secured by two cavalry side buttons, retains its brass buckle but is missing its leather adjustment loop. From the Ray Bentley Collection.
